CHAPTER 2
I keep staring at the guy who’s sitting on my white sofa in front of me now. He looks around my living room enthusiastically, just like a child who enters a stranger’s house for the first time. Well, I admit that he looks innocent just like a pure kid, and his smile can melt everybody’s heart. Oh no, don’t get me wrong. I’m straight, okay? I said it just as a small compliment for him. Plus, his face is kind of familiar with me, but I can’t recall where I ever met him.
“Can I ask your name once again? I think people who named Jaejoong are kinda rare. Besides, that is my name and this is my own house,” I break the silence between me and him. Finally his eyes meet mine and he smiles afterward.
“It’s Kim Jaejoong. Nice to meet you,” Now I get puzzled. I take a glance at him, he seems so blank in his eyes. Is he probably out of his mind?
“Ummm… sorry, but are you sure that your name is that name?” I know he’ll be offended with my question but I’m too curious that I don’t bother about his feeling.
“I’m not sure either.” He suddenly blurts out that makes my jaw opens widely. I yell, “What do you mean by that? I don’t get it!”
“That’s why I come here,” he answers while searching something in a pocket of his jacket. He finally take a piece of paper out and hands it to me. “This thing brought me to you.”
I quickly grab the paper and read what’s written on it. There are my name and my full address, complete with the zipcode. Now my mind is getting disorganized. What the heck are these all about?
I push myself onto my sofa and release a heavy sigh. That ‘another Kim Jaejoong’ just stares at me without saying anything. He sits again and puts a serious expression on his small face.
“You must be really puzzled.” Oh, no need a sympathy from you, kiddo, I grumble in my heart. He continues, “I can explain a little.”
I close my eyes for a while & re-open them, staring at that stranger. I realize that he’s still soaked because of the raindrops but he seems don’t bother it. I get up and leave ‘Kim Jaejoong’ alone in the living room. I climb up the stairs and open my room’s door. I walk across to reach the closet and take out one of a towel.
“Here. Dry yourself with it.” I throw the towel onto the table in front of ‘Kim Jaejoong’ and then walk away to kitchen. I’m so thirsty and feel freezing that I have to drink something warm. Then I make two cups of hot chocolate and bring them all to the table in the living room.
“You’re too nice to me,” He blurts out after seeing me giving him some services. That makes me blushing a bit, I don’t know why. “Thanks anyway.”
“I don’t want to see someone dying because of freezing in front of my eyes, ‘kay?” I try to hide my happy feeling with cold tone in my sentences. “Moreover, you own me a story.”
“Simply said, I lose all of my memories now.” He says while sipping his hot chocolate. “I only have these last 3 weeks of memory in my brain.”
“Wait, do you mean you are amnesia?” I jump a bit from the sofa. Is he really telling reality now?
“I woke up in a room of a hospital 3 weeks ago,” he continues his story without bothering my question. “The nurses and the doctors said I got hit by a car, and pedestrians found me lying on the road unconsciously. They called the ambulance to get me to the hospital. Polices had already interrogated me and asked me some questions but they got no clue about who I am. But then one of the nurses who saved my jacket found a piece of paper and gave it to me. That was the time I decided to meet you and finally I ran away from hospital this evening.”
He just ended his explanation and leave me dumbfounded. IS IT A TRUE STORY? Sounds like a plot of a drama or a movie.
“So the conclusion is, you came here to get a clue from me,” I say as I get the whole story. “But you also get nothing now.”
“Nah, I’m sure you still have a piece of the jigsaw puzzle,” he says with a serious tone. Now I know that what he can do now is counting on me and no one can help him but me.
“OK…” I sigh and look at the paper once again. “But I seriously have no idea where in the world this is from. Last time I gave someone my fully address was –“
Finally I remember something. I jump out of my sofa and run to my bedroom. I bring my laptop along after I walked out from the room. Then I open a website on the internet to find a profile on it.
“Oh hello… U-Know!”
“Huh?” he doesn’t get what I mean before I show him a profile page on the website.
“This is you,” I say while pointing a photo of a guy with brown-ish hair on the profile page who looks like ‘Kim Jaejoong’. “There is a picture of you here, and your nickname is U-Know. You are the owner of this online store.”
“Are you really sure that’s me? It can be just my look-alike,” he complains but then I explain him more.
“I’m just 90% sure. Look, he hasn’t been online for these last 3 weeks! Do you think it’s just a coincidence?”
“So, my name isn’t ‘Jaejoong’, but –“
“’U-Know’. At least that’s your name from now on,” I emphasize his name in my words. Seriously I’m glad to know that I don’t have to share a name with someone. Well, childish thought, I know.
But then U-Know shakes my right hand and says sweetly, “Thanks for finding my name.”
